STORIES FROM CAT OWNERS

MILES

Adopter: Robin Grausam
Location: Lunenburg, MA
Shelter: Pat Brody Shelter for Cats

Why Miles is so special:
We adopted Miles only a week after our little furboy Pilot died of cancer. We felt bad adopting again so quickly but I missed having a little buddy so much. When we walked into the room of cats Miles immediately came to us. He is so handsome and sweet and of all my cats (I have 3) he will let you pick him up and carry him around. Sometimes he'll curl up between me and my husband in bed and fall asleep in my arm. He has a TON of energy and such a big personality.

SMOKY

Adopter: Liz and Kevin De Souza
Location: Pacifica, CA
Shelter: Peninsula Humane Society

Why Smokey is so special:
My husband & I adopted Smoky when he was 3 months old. We wanted to adopt a cat no one else would want. After a few hours of looking, none of the cats engaged with us, we were resigned to leave without adopting, when this tiny black paw shot out of a cage. We inquired about the black kitten everyone seemed to overlook. The attendant at the shelter said he was returned because the owner believed black cats were bad luck, he also had struvite crystals.

LULUH AND LALAH

Adopter: Jaruwan Thapjean-Fox
Location: Moore, OK
Shelter: OKC Animal Shelter

Why Luluh and Lalah are so special:
Luluh and Lalah stole our hearts when we first saw them in the shelter. We could not take our eyes off of them! We followed their status for a few days before we went in to pick them up. They were so playful once they were home! We had a blast watching them play and interact with each other. Our 6-yr-old daughter will be coming home tonight and I cannot wait to surprise her with these new two kittens! Our new family members!

BRUTUS

Adopter: Kristin Ellis
Location: Washington, DC - District of Columbia
Shelter: Homeward Trails

Why Brutus is so special:
Brutus is a three-year-old orange male tabby who was placed in a shelter after he was found abandoned and wandering the streets of Richmond, VA. I found him 10 months ago at a pet store and adopted him on the spot. From the minute I took him home, it was evident that he and I were a great match. He is always game to play with toys, is eager to meet new humans and loves to curl up on the couch and watch TV with me. He has a curious spirit and a sweet disposition. I am so lucky to have found him!

COCO

Adopter: Karen Malone
Location: McKinney, TX
Shelter: SPCA McKinney

Why Coco is so special:
Cocopuff, Little Bit, Fluffybutt. Coco goes by many names and answers to all of them. We brought her home weighing only about one-and-a-half pounds and she immediately fell for our Terrier, Lala. I lived in fear that the dog was going to hurt her, but they are close buddies. She is a sweet-talking kitty that knows no fear and lives for knocking things over or putting her paws in my fish tank. We adore her and she is our little furry girl.

LUNA

Adopter: Amy Hayes
Location: Flora Vista, NM
Shelter: City of Farmington Shelter

Why Luna is so special:
The second I saw Luna as a kitten at the shelter, I knew we had to take her home. The first thing I noticed about her was that she had extra toes. When I saw she had extra toes (three extras on each front paw), my first thought was that no one would want to take her home because she was different. When we took her out of the cage, she immediately crawled into my arms and started purring. I knew then that we had to take her home.

JAZELLE

Adopter: Megan McLeish
Location: Indianapolis, IN
Shelter: Southside Animal Shelter

Why Jazelle is so special:
Jazelle is a big fluffball of fun. My roommate and I adopted her to bring some life into our apartment. When looking to adopt a cat, Jazelle caught our attention at the animal shelter because of her beautiful colored fur and she walked right up to us. She is very friendly and always welcomes you when you walk into the door. Despite her overweight size and initially scratching up our couches, she has beed a great addition to our life.
