SENSE Charter School offers a solid, research-based curriculum that receives approval from the Indiana Department of Education and the Indianapolis Mayor’s Office of Education and Innovation. Teachers actively select instructional programs and strategies that support the national language arts and mathematics Core Curriculum, and Indiana State Standards. Special Area classes include art, Skill Builders, music, physical education, and technology education. Students with special needs attend pull-out class sessions to support their Individual Education Plans. Using research-based instructional programs and strategies, SENSE staff provides a solid educational foundation. Currently, the SENSE staff is incorporating brain-based researched instructional strategies into the daily learning environment to enhance students’ content skill acquisition and long-term memory retention. Some strategies include: cooperative learning structures, practicing and building problem-solving, sequencing, and processing skills, and building homework time into the learning day.
